The Earth revolves around the Sun

These words seem very unsensational now, but at the time they were uttered by Nicolas Copernicus they were considered heretical and profoundly untrue. A heliocentric world would mean that the Earth was not the centre of creation, something that for many seemed to shake the foundations of our self identity and beliefs.

Another quote from Copernicus is:

"To know that we know what we know, and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge"

... does anyone remember a certain Donald Rumsfeld using the word 'know' - or at least 'known' that many times in a sentence not too long ago?!?
